Meet Artistic, Quality Singles in Central Arkansas

Updated on July 14, 2015

Thinkers and Tinkerers

There are good quality singles just hidden out, but secretly hoping to tangle leashes, or hook braces with the mate of their dreams.

The over thirty crowd have had it with bars, and other ceremonious meetings in which the single, or their well meaning peeps have arranged a situation where they might actually meet someone they can click with. It is too much.

Many singles who would make awesome, and well-thinking partners and better friends stay hidden in cocoons of hope and dread.

Like hoping to win the lottery but never playing - so is dating. Going on a date once every six years is not really dating. That is testing the waters with a tippy toe, too timid to stay out long, rushing back home to safety and the cat.

The hype over dating, dating rules, quizzes, shows, movies, advice columnists all have a different opinion on what relationships are. We are lucky that relationships are not a square box of rules, but rather more like a sponge which changes and has many types, sizes and shapes..

I have a couple of suggestions for meeting someone who has a brain, and may actually not be a serial killer.

Like Minded People - Public Library Programs

All of the advertisers who want to make their clients happy, wealthy and wise have thrown everything at the unattached person for decades. Singles are under a lot of pressure, especially as they grow older.

For one, less bars and booze means inhibitions are right where your mother would love them to stay.

Perhaps by redefining the ways that people can thoughtfully find a companion, this will remove the stigmas and barriers to good people dating.

For those who have remained single after thwarted dating plans, dateless months, and 'almost relationships' that were really not worth the trouble, here is a possible solution.

Find other thinkers. For the thinking person, who better to meet than someone who cares or is concerned about the community? Add the benefit that most people who hang at the library, are readers, or make use of library services. A nice person to befriend is one who volunteers a few hours a week in the library.

How about cruising the "M's" in fiction and see how many George R.R. Martin fans you can run into. Step into the young adult section and say, "I am 'Looking For Alaska' by John Green, have you read it?" You will get a conversation going with others who like the same authors or types of materials you do.

Libraries are always doing projects to benefit the community. A good way to meet like-minded people is by volunteering for a big project. There are gardens, haunted houses, Summer Reading Programs, Read & Feed, Movie nights, Adult Extreme Coloring, Computer and Job Training Skills.

What a kick to take an Excel class at your local library, and meet the hottie who decided to take the same class...Happens all the time.

Look Into Getting A Tattoo!

This may seem like the most ludicrous idea you have ever heard about meeting like-minded individuals.

A tattoo shop is a little bit magical. The people who throw ink are special artists who can connect with a person who is thoughtful about their tattoo choices.

In the U.S. tattoo shops that are licensed and in good standing are clean places. For those who have never really been inside of the tattoo shop, it is surprising that these often bearded, shaved, tattooed, pierced artists spend hours cleaning floors, walls, furniture, bathrooms, trash, etc.

In North America most shops do not allow cigarette smoking (not sure about all the State laws), so it is a place where you can spend some time checking out the portfolios or other signage that gives ideas for tattoos.

Another thing most people don't realize is that a true tattoo artist can take your design, and create a beautiful work of ink that is a one-of-a-kind.

A majority of people who go to tattoo shops are employed, and have made an informed decision to grace their bodies with a message. A lot of folks from the artists on down, are some of the more real people you will meet. The image of Ms. Clean Cut Barbie Chick may seem like a dream come true, but it is not realistic. A woman who has a patch of the armor she wore in a past life, may be an administrative assistant, but under that is is a warrior.

Men who pay for art which will be with them forever, are men who have value, and are worth a second look.

You don't have to get a tattoo, but you can find out about it. Do some research, and then go out and meet some new friends.
