This is a Hub I wrote during a HubMob Writers Contest held my third month on HubPages, I did write Hubs with content for finding 'treasure' businesses in our town. I felt the need to encourage other newbies who were trying to learn how to work this contest, abide by all of the rules, and comply with all of the requirements. Today November 11, 2010, I have learned a lot since then, but this Hub does have good information and helps for the newbie. So...read on.
Arr. "Hub" Marks the Spot. Finding buried treasure. September 1, 2010
Arr, I am pumped about this contest . I have been going in a direction of finding buried treasure around my own town. Thank you, Princessa for putting this out there, and helping explain this process. And, Simone Smith for posting this link to the HubPages Forum Topic
In stories of Faith, and Tales of Success, an extra little push often converts the impossible to a quasi-miracle change. One pot of chili will feed 80 because of faith and a wave of garlic over the pot.
There are parables all over the World, told about sowers and reapers. Karma is a wonderful example. Those who never sow, but hold on to those old seeds, will eventually starve. Only by planting seeds , and sweat equity will they reap rewards. What they reap will be multiplied. We leave more than what we contributed initially.
Thanks to HubPages, HubMob, I am working on 2 Hubs for this contest.
Everyday we hear about the U.S. Economy . The economy has been trying to recover, but we must all help. Small businesses have been hit especially hard in the past few years, consumers are careful about spending money. Those of us cash paying customers, who have not lived on Credit , but paid our way, we have a little cash saved. In order to assist in recovery , we need to look for places to boost our local economies.
Let us take our money, and seed it to our Communities . If our Taverns, Restaurants, and other Service Industries, buried treasures, if you will.
Our economy needs a good cash infusion. As Hubbers, we are in a unique position to not only help our ailing communities and small business owners, we can receive more interest in our published work and the work of our Compadres.
Seed spending will result in a circle of giving, production, and prosperity. It is not so hard to spend money when it is appreciated. It is easier to give good hospitality and service to an appreciative and expectant audience.
If our small businesses and big ones too for that matter, realize that they are being evaluated for service, product and capabilities , they are going to offer better service, products and all, those who do not will rightfully fade away.
I cannot seem to do any good by merely voting in an electoral poll. People who can spend a little cash,(there is not much credit these days) are finally living in a time when their hard earned dollars make a difference.
Ophra Wimphrey is one of the best modern day models I can think of, who proves, when you give as you are given, you cannot give the stuff away. Ms. Winfrey would probably attest her greatest satisfaction of her career is how she has changed peoples' lives. She owns the wealth, it does not own her.
By living a little more, spending a wee bit of this tightly held cash, we will be able to spend
Write on! Find the hidden treasures of your town, check out the contest to see if you are eligible, and get to sharing. Read all the rules, 300 word minimums.
Make a difference, Seed your economy , and save your city! Bring tourism to your town, and tell them good places to go when they get there.
As a consumer, it feels great to be the person who is not just an every day customer. This is one who can bring you Search Hits, for places to eat, drink and make merry. If I find a place I don't like, I just don't write about it. It may have been a bad day, week, month or year. They don't need my bad juju too. :8->

What a nice Hub!! I agree you have to spend a little to make a little.
In my State they keep changing the laws so drastically that it is causing small businesses to go under. One of the 'new' laws that was changed that I don't particularly agree with. No smoking in restaurants or bars, or any place that food or drink is served. You must keep a distance of 25 feet if you are a smoker. There are still a lot of smokers out there, granted it may be wrong and bad for our health, but if the bar owner wants to allow smoking, why can't he/she? This new law doesn't give them an option.
As of right now 5 different businesses in one town near where I live has went under because of this law. That is just 1 small town! What about the rest of the State?
-What a beautiful hub! You said - of Ms Winfrey - " She owns the wealth, it does not own her." What a marvelous quote this is. Do you know that I love reading your profile? You are an unusual person and I am blessed to have met you here on HP. I wish you success in your writing. Stay close!

Really nicely written and informative hub. You are right that we have to spread the wealth. If we don't spend in town, we may not have much left in town. We have lost many stores and restaurants in my area of Mtka, Minnesota because of the tough economy.
