Why don't you quit acting like an adult?

Coming up the walkway to the house, the walkway looks like a bunch of kids live here. Grands come to visit, but there is other childishness afoot. Lately, it has been hot, so the traces of Chalk pictures and messages are slowly fading.

Sidewalk Chalk: At Halloween, several of us took turns making "crime scene outlines" of each other in beautiful pastels. We crisscrossed and stacked some of the "outlines", it was fun and funny! Still earning Award Smiles from it.

When you get to the porch, look to your right, and you will notice a storage area that contains several Large Hula Hoops, jump ropes, floaties, a bike, a slip 'n slide box, an ice chest and several large boxes of Sidewalk Chalk. This is the outside toys. It is wisdom to be prepared for fun. When we are first getting re-started at acting like a child, it make take practice. Fake it until you make it. You will not regret it..

When I was younger, I remember wanting to hurry up and get older. First I wanted to drive, so 16 was to be a major milestone. Then, getting out on my own; 18 - 21. After that, maturity escalated. This 'growing up', made me too serious and caused me to leave childishness behind. I was an adult. Time to grow up. Get concerned. Get stuff. Go in debt. Woah, fun huh? No, not fun.

Bubbles: At the age of 45, I started buying bubbles regularly. The dogs are Bubble Crazy.

In my car, I have a bubble sword (long tube, with bubble wand at the top) at the ready. In the house there are bubbles bottles stashed in strategic places.

During celebrations, the Bubbly that gets opened up is of the soapy variety. Armed and dangerous, ready to assail the enemy with bubbles. No matter how sad or depressed I get, if I can get those bubbles going, I cheer up quickly. It is hard to blow bubbles, and keep a frowny face at the same time. At the very least, you may get a head rush from all that expelling of hot air.

In a day when a majority of people are unable to afford Health insurance, or use their Health care plan, It doesn't hurt to find alternative mental health care. A stressful place is in traffic jams. To ease the stress while embroiled in traffic, pull out the bubble wand, start sending bubbles out. Many around you in a jam, are angry, and frustrated. All hurrying to be out of time, they grow irritable in traffic.

Send a few test bubbles first, hide the bubble blower. Suddenly - "bloop" bubbles begin floating, causing somewhat reluctant smiling. The first reaction to bubblations is a startled, concerned look. Then they spot a 30 something, or giddy 50 year-old woman grinning and blowing bubbles. They can't help but smile. Job Accomplished.

Hula, hula, hula hoop

Hula Hoops - The last time I tried to Hula Hoop with the grands, I threw my back out. I was sad, because I know hula hooping is a very worthy exercise and I figured I just didn't have "It" anymore. A few months ago, I was introduced to the Adult Hula Hoop. Oh, Yeah!

These are great. I have not found a store that carries them, but in my search for photos, I found two different individuals that make them. For $30.00 or less, a big person can get a Hoop to fit them. There are workout groups springing up using these larger hoops. I saw a belly dancer do a beautiful dance with these. They are fun. The one I have picked out, is 44" and it is s-l-o-w. When you get really good, several hoops can be used at one time, moved from the arms, down the body, to the leg and back. A lot of childlike fun is just waiting to be had from you.

Let's see, I have covered Sidewalk Chalk, Bubbles and Hula Hoops. Three very inexpensive ways to add joy and fun to your life. Your kids and other younger people will probably give you a hard time at first. Just keep practicing. It will not belong until you start making memories with inexpensive tools, and benefit your wellness too. Have Fun! Practice at it. Become a Funoligist and leave that seriousness behind. The more hubs I read, the more I just know how 'big' you're going to be here on HubPages! Your sense of humor is fresh and your writing is clear and bright.

Boy, am I glad you found me! BTW, how DID you do that?? :)

I am not sure which one, but when I published one of my smiling hubs (?), it showed "similar" hubs listed alongside the page. I thought, "she took my idea!", and it was different, but you had posted it a long time before I got here. (I have a blogspot and have been copied word for word[?]). Then I started reading several of your hubs, and like your style! Anyway...

I was attracted to the title initially, and love this hub as I read it. As we grow up, getting old, getting serious and melow, it's great to be a "child" at times... it's like freeing the spirit within us, we need that to retain sanity.

Katiem, Guess I didn't see your comment...Thank you for the read and i am glad you enjoyed it ~

Ingenira ~ Thank you very much for the stop by, read and comment. I always hope to bring someone a smile and bit of humor. I really wish, that when I write humor, it has residual affect. Later on, in the middle of the night, next week...suddenly "pop" it comes back and brings a little smile or laugh. :0)

Tomorrow I invest in a bubble wand! This is terrific. My inner child loves to play and even in my "old a-hem age" I run around from room to room playing "hide and seek" with my best friend "Clancey" my adorable little shih ztu. Thanks for this hub - a great reminder to stop being an adult.

vocalcoach, Thank you! It makes me feel good when I have spread smiles and joy! Clancey will probably love the bubbles too. My granddog is 145lb Bulldog, and we finally had to buy a bubble machine for him. He jumps scarey High to catch bubbles...He Loves them too, we have a lot of fun with Bubbles!
