Clinton library orientation theater

...when I was a young person, I heard Dr. Martin Luther King ,Jr .'s famous Speech, I Have A Dream , I stood there transfixed...hearing a Clarion Call that drove me in the direction of Public Service .. and this call to service has been with me since... President William Jefferson Clinton

Hearing these words come from President Clinton, while in the Library Orientation Theater, stirred my heart, and made me happy. It is a feeling of great honor, to live in the town of Little Rock, that houses this unique Library, and because of the work that went into the Clinton Presidential Library, that we can hear this excellent Statesman speak in this setting

The planning of the Clinton Presidential Library and campus, has captured the heart and direction of the River Market Area. What at one time was land so toxic that it was no a National Priorities List as a Superfund. The planners of The Library, and Heifer International (on adjoining property) have done a beautiful job with our city and River Market. It is now a very healthy, thriving, pedestrian town.

President Bill Clinton Presidential Library

In our town of Little Rock Arkansas, we are honored to house The William J.Clinton Presidential Library. The Library can be seen from the I-30 Interstate at the the Little Rock Downtown Area exit.

At the end of a giant "green" corridor, nestled on the bank of the Arkansas River, sits the Library. It is a beautiful place to come, walk for exercise, picnic or just look at the beauty of architecture and nature. Next to the Library is a Historic Building; the 1899 Choctaw Station Railroad passenger Depot. When the Clinton School of Public Service was being built, the cost of tearing down the Old Train Depot, and building a new structure was found to be cost prohibitive. By renovating this beautiful Architecture, it saved on our environment and energy use. Behind the Library sits the Revitalized Brownfield Property & Headquarters for Heifer International.

Lilly, (I hope it's okay to shorten your username!) Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was seven years old at the time these speeches were given-too young to understand their meaning and impact. This is the first time I listened to the entirety of these great men's words and I have tears in my eyes.

I do, however, remember the assassinations, watching with our black maid as JFK was shot, and later, MLK. Travesties. The horror of those days will never leave me.

I am a democrat, a liberal, and a spiritual human being and recall my presidential votes-Carter, Clinton, and on down until the republicans dashed my hopes. But I kept voting. I'll never stop.

Thanks for such a stirring hub, and as King said, it's "...the content of [our] character" that matters.
