Freedom from bondage and abuse
1). Wearing a bra is painful - In the 30 years I wore a bra, there are only a few times I can remember feeling comfortable. Even after getting measured by the JC Penny Bra guru, and getting the right size and cup, comfort flees quickly. The first few hours with the bra on is okay. Denial hits with the first 'swipe' of putting the strap back up where it goes. It becomes an all day irritant; creep, swipe, creep, adjust...eeeekk.
2). Large breasted women often suffer more pain and damage to their backs and shoulders from wearing a bra, than they would by going natural. Except for societal impositions, a small breasted woman only needs a bra for cosmetics.
3). Bras, even the most expensive, eventually confine, twist, crawl and pinch. Perhaps wearing one burns calories(?)
4). Have you noticed, that the invention of the bra was by a man; from a corset (that women were pressured into conforming their figures with - breaking ribs, damaging intestines and other organs.) If it would have been a need, some woman would have invented one. The sociatial demand for a woman to wear a bra, seems to coincide with world religions that have attempted to cover and bind women's spirit and power...it blocks the heart.
5). Many women who work all day, are dressed "business serious". This includes a bra that either enhances her assets, or simply binds and keeps the girls confined. Most women cannot wait to cross the threshold of her home, kicking the high heels off, and ripping the offending tortuous Brassier off!
I did not wear a bra, they call it getting "covered", until 1977 at 17 years of age. Shortly after moving to Rural Arkansas from Southern California. I would get the, "do you have a bra on?" Inquisition.
Desiring to be a part of the community, and fit in, I got brassiered. I have lived decades of Bra Abuse. Daily getting pinches, penetrated from broken or slipped 'wires'. I have spent entire days pushing the bra strap back up.In this society, I felt like I would be less attractive and look slutty if I did not bustle up.
In 2010 on my 51st Birthday, I revisited California and I have freed myself from the dreaded Bra once again. It is simple to wear a tank or undershirt beneath a dress or shirt. Unless someone is crossing your boundaries, it is not noticeable. I still keep a couple around for times when I prefer to be covered, but it is my choice and it is too late to go back to boob jail again.
If God had intended us to cover, and change the form of our breasts, We would have been born with covered taps...

As a small-breasted woman I have to say I too hate wearing a bra so I can still relate. Can't stand being strapped I guess. Luckily a camisole with a shelf works or those stick on Nu Bra's do the trick, although in this heat I'm jealous of guys who can go topless :) Welcome to HP Lilly!
haha this is wonderful.. although I am only a b-cup, i don't mind wearing a bra.
One more reason: They are a b**** to shop for! :)
My girls need the support, but it's one of the first things to come off when I hit the door after work. I was in San Francisco the summer women were burning their bras and I completely understand why now, after decades of slavery!
Great hub and welcome to the 'hood!
All good reasons and great Hub (although I can't say I've ever found them at all uncomfortable (at least not until the straps get washed too much and start slipping off your shoulders and driving you insane. :) )
Wearing a bra never bothered me until the last 5-10 years. I don't know if it's the age thing or that it's hard to find a bra without underwire, Heavy push up padding, etc. or what but now they drive me NUTS. I'm giving it a few more years, and I may decide to free myself.
I hate bras too! I am a small breasted woman, but with really big nipples, (go figure)... so sometimes, I just slap a band-aide over each mountain on the molehills and call it quits! It keeps the points from pointing, and no-one is the wiser!
This was yet another great article from you!
Wow, very interesting! There was this time when it was really hot in our place and I did not remove my bra, I got some rashes on my chest. It was terrible. Thank goodness my baby's talc did the healing of the skin rashes.
We really don't want to see me without a bra, I promise...Heck as it is I need a spatula at my bedside to roll over... Ok, so that was wrong on so many levels!! LOL
Great Hub, I just wish I could be more free!!
LOL....I LOVE this hub!!! So inspirational! I am taking mine off immediately. Who was this evil person that invented these things? And you are right...when I don't wear one, my back always feels more comfortable! Fabulous hub and rated up for sure!!
Now this is a great hub! I go without a bra whenever I can. Almost daily. Have been entertaining the thought of trying a sports bra for times when I do want support. I feel like I am imprisoned when I wear a bra. And I am a free spirit...therefore I say, burn, baby burn.
When I wear a dress, instead of bras I prefer using silicone nipple covers, I feel comfortable and confident!!
hahahaah :))) am saying nothing about the bra,
however, Some good points and i love this hub!
Original title!
hehehe... If I dit wear one though, Id have nothing left
hahaha :)
thank you for sharing, thumbs up!
This is a shitty Hub. I mean, seriously? I will always wear a bra. I only not wear one in the shower duh. Can't u take this hub thing down? geez, it really sucks, ma'am. later hahahahahhahahaahahahahhhahahahahhahahha
I was just curious why not, and its a very girly matter. Sorry to interrupt you :)
Can't imagine not wearing a bra at the office!
ducks don't wear bras but this was interesting.
I would think that number 6 would be because you can.
Just out of curiosity have any women generated a better bra than the one created by a man?
voted this hub up and funny, amusing wasn't available

Another question?
Do you think that if a bra was worn to replace a blouse, instead of under the blouse that it would be consdiered indecent?
I guess the point is at what point does our clothing or lack of it become a federal case?
It was your comment on the band aids for the nipples that stimulated these questions.
Thanks
Lilly
When I thought about the women topless issue, in reality there is little difference in the breasts. Men and women both have them, and while they look different, so do breasts among women look different. So, I guess I don't know why they shouldn't be allowed on the beach with the men. There is a major difference in the sexual apparatus in the Southern Hemisphere, but it must stem from our country;s Puritan founders.
What the hell do I know about it, I am a duck, all our breasts look alike.

Wearing a bra is the worst when you work out. Sometimes I wish I was a guy!
Lilly, what a fab hub this is.
I remember, and was part of the BURN YOUR BRA era ...
Of course that went back to normal far to quickly, although I am still a hippy at heart. I to this day HATE WITH A VENGEANCE wearing a Small Hammock (I really don't know why I bother. Mine would truely fit the cat in your photo )
I love a nice spray tan all yr round, but the dreaded red tell-tale signs of restriction is all to apparent !
Sod it... You have put forward a good case.
TOMOROW IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF MY LIFE " BRA-LESS ! ! !
LOOK FORWARD TO MORE OF YOUR HUBS
Wonder what else you can talk me into hahaha
Haha. That was a very innovative hub. I'm a man so I dont wear a bra, but I've heard that they are a pain in the ass. Do what makes you happy. No reason to walk around uncomfortable all day. Thats why I switched to boxers when I was younger.

I didn't know that its a man who invented the bra, he should be shot for making our lives a misery! I'm a small breasted girl and I never wore a bra before I was 17.. ahh the good old days lol. Nice hub hun very interesting xx
You have made some good points there but I just can`t, I feel naked when I go outside without my bra. Maybe in the future they will invent painless bra or something like that.
Very interesting. Didn't know a man invented bras. Great information
Bravo!!!
I had no idea they were so painful. There appears to be a great number of things that men created and somehow convinced women that they needed it. Regardless, rock on strong ladies! I've learned something today.
I really enjoyed your hub. I also have wearing a bra, but do not have a choice since I have had a masectomy, and if I don't wear a bra, I look weird. I will admit, I cannot wait to get home at night to get undressed.
I'm like 15 and i'm a 36 C, (And still growing), but if you didn't wear a bra wouldn't you get all "saggy"?
Great hub. Going braless usually makes me feel like I'm sagging or being weighed down in front. And then other times I can't wait to take it off. I love the tanks with the built in bra and have found them to be very comfortable. Shopping for a pretty And comfortable bra is a big pain especially since I'm between a c and d.
I agree, in the 70's my mom was called to my high school because during a locker check it was full of bras. Guess I wasn't too embarrased, I hardly remember it. Halters were the style and every day I changed in the woods. Now I can hardly get home without pulling it through my sleeves. At home I sling it, and Frog's going to put up a hook I can aim for!
I started wearing a sports bra instead of the underwire I dealt with for many, many years. It is soooo much more comfortable and I although I may be kidding myself, I feel I'm helping fight gravity at least a little bit.
Great Hub - I love it!
I love the phrase "boob jail"--hilarious! Congratulations on your freedom. I often opt for the bottom tank-top instead of the boob binder. Rock on!
Lovely hub! I totally agree that it is a relief to take it off in the evenings! But to go without a bra among people is totally impossible! I wouldn´t feel at all comfortable. To big, to.. everything! Sadly enough, I sometimes have difficulty to make eye contact with some of the male sex! I feel a desire to want to wave; Hi, up here am I!!And based on my age, that says more about the men than my breasts!
And when "they" are big, gravity affects! It isn´t flattering whithout even if everyone understands that life takes its course. This hub is funny, useful and actual! and voted up! Thanks, I really enjoyed reading:)
These are all great points. I hate wearing a bra. At the end of the day, I take my bra off even before I take off my shoes.
I just LOVE the humor you used with this article! The facts are great too, but the way you related them made my day! Salute!
When I started sitting on parts of my butt I'd never sat on before, I decided I no longer needed a bra, and now I'm FREE on most occasions! I still strap in when I absolutely feel I HAVE too, but those times are becoming fewer and farther between! (And thank goodness for that!)
It pains this old Saddlerider to see a woman with a bra. If I had my way I would have shot that Dude who invented the sling shot(bra):0) Nothing like freedom to swing and god bless the a/c in the meat department on those hot braless shopping days. It's very titalating:0) Now ladies don't listen to me, I'm just a man. However if I had my way I to would be a bra burner..he he he
Love your hubs so far. This one was great! I am all on board. I often wished I was flat chested so I didn't have to wear a bra and it would be completely acceptable. I don't wear a bra at home ever since I had my daughter and my bra size increased, I hated bras especially when I was pregnant. Luckily I do some work for home and stay home with my daughter so most of the time I can avoid this contraption. I still wear it in public. I feel like people would stare otherwise. I feel opposite of you going braless in public. Maybe I'll brave it more someday.
I aspire to lose the bra by 51!
Hi Lilly, loved this hub. I am striking a match to my bra as I type. I am not sure your cat is to keen on taking up the bra though.
Is it true that wearing a bra could cause breast cancer?
Thanks Lilly.
I rarely leave the house lately, I've been unemployed for what feels like forever, so I have been going bra-less for awhile now. It's great, until we do have to go somewhere and then I have to wear one. By the time I get home I'm unhooking the thing before I even get through the door! They are such a pain. I actually discovered that my body had begun to adapt to not wearing a bra, so after I shoved them inside one for an extended period of time, my breasts actually hurt after wearing it. It's even supposed to be the right size for me, I was actually measured for the proper size... now that was embarrassing. Great hub.
Great read.
Loved this article !! I'm 19 and a DD38 (I know shocking lol) But recently I started taking it off around when I'm going to bed and I've never felt so free! But for obvious reasons I can't feel that comfort anywhere outside of the 4 walls I call my room! I just feel it's too uncomfortable to have people staring at you at all times... lool my moms 41 and my younger sisters 16 and both have never put a bra on. Inspiration? From this day forward, I think so..
I am 52 and have not worn a bra in 10 years. I do not cover up the fact that I am free. I wear whatever I want to and my nipples are ALWAYS erect. I have had many comments and with the exception of one guy at work they have all been encouraging. Some women are jealous because they say they don't have the nerve. I wouldn't have when I was younger but now I am bra free forever and wouldn't have it any other way.
Loved your article.
Hi, great 5 reasons, I always don't remove my bras unless I take a shower or I am having sex, it's always on, it never hurted me for the past 15 yrs am wearing it since I am 13. Now if I sleep with them it hurts. I don't feel relaxed, I feel am under pressure. If I sleep with them I dream of removing them. Since I am not used to braless for so many years trying to stop wearing them at nights and when I am at home.
I can't believe I just now found this hub. Love it!
I Only wear a bra if I'm going to be around some other people that I'm afraid will be bothered if I don't wear one. Or if my sons had friends over when they were teenagers. They (the friends) always seemed to notice.
I've purchased underwires, on occasion, but have never made it through the whole day wearing one. Actually that can be said of all bras. I'm just not a bra person.
I remember the first day my Mother insisted that I wear one to school and how much the boys made fun of it. I was mortified.
* Also, even after having 3 children, there is not much sagging. I think it may depend on your skin type and genes. I don't have any stretch marks either - any where, even after having a 10 pound baby. I don't know why, exactly.
I would like to have a Whole List of things changed about me and my appearance, but skin isn't one of them.

Good points but I just can't go bra less because I don't want to loose my up standing position if you know what I mean. I do experience a lot of pain from wearing bras at times. Try being a 34 C, now that's a hard size to be and my shoulders do hurt from holding it all up. I wish we had more comfortable options. Great read thanks :)
