One hundred Hubs, cents and root-beer

The Golden Hundredth Hub...
The hundredth Hub to be published is a milestone that I am proud to have accomplished. Getting to 100 published Hubs, was thanks to the HubPages Community . The HubPages Staff and Elite do an amazing job. Every week, the HubNugget Nominations are prepared. They are so well laid out, using the same tools that all Hubbers have access to. The Hub Elite, and Staff continue to publish high quality content, while running the HubShip.
In July, I was standing at a crossroads. Thankfully a Google ad recommended HubPages. How do we forget we are writers? How, do we forget to breathe? Humans need deep breaths of oxygen for optimum system function. Breathing is important, writing is as important, as breathing.
There are so many Hubbers who are very special to me, and have helped me discover publishing in 2010. These same Hubbers were ready and eager to help me, and other Newbies. At the same time, they continued to publish massive amounts of material of their own.
It is worrisome to attempt to consider only 100 Hubbers to thank, or only 100 Hubs to mention, that have influenced me. Hubs and Hubbers have changed my view on Love , taught me some GREAT recipes, how to treat my appliances, pillows for sleeping comfort, how to make a sheath for a knife, have clear skin on my back, vacation spots for years, recent history of other Countries, customs and traditions of other Nations, what the tool is called that makes the elegant designs in drywall paste. It is written over and over, tales of survival, and the knowledge that anyone, anywhere can survive anything, and it is okay to fart on HubPages. People can accomplish amazing things with very little.
Within the HubPages community, I have made new friends for life .

Google shocks Hubbers, rumors fly that Google rates HubPages low on quality content
Coming upon ones hundredth Hub is a milestone, that I precluded that there would be no way, I could not eventually have a passive income from publishing on HubPages. I am nearing my first payout on HubPages, and suddenly there is nothing but zeros. Page views, but -0- dollars and -0- cents.
Google Webmaster has been writing about this, and had a webinar on it today. It will go into the archives. The Hub Team Members have been writing about this, HubPages Paul Edmondson wrote an article about this, and sent e-mails to Hubbers. Techies and SEO'rs all over the web, have been sending out feelers about this for weeks.
Today, March 2, 2011, the Google forums are climbing with prior AdSense members having their accounts closed. Locked, Gone. Period. Many AdSense accounts are closed, and some Hubbers although not closed, are not longer getting paid for any page views.
After reading on the HubPages forums, and the encouraging words of those who have been around the world wide web for more than a decade, I am positive that HubPages will do just fine, this is a wake-up call to a Good Content Farm, like HubPages. Let's just Write on, and push the good quality content.
Fellow Hubbers, let us write like we have a score of English Teachers standing behind us rulers raised. Let us retain our High Quality standings.

Ingenira, I am glad you enjoy those photos too. I love ESA for sharing their photos. I have so many of their photos downloaded as I am awestruck when I see all we share the Universe with. As long as credit is given, citation, and/or a link back, they allow it. There are thousands of unique imagery on their sites. Thank you very much.

It seems, by all appearances, that Google does not care for affiliates, of course except Adsense ones. That may be a big reason for the drop. I am not saying selling hubs are bad, but it must be Google does not like them. I guess Google feels there are too many, I'm not sure. But congrats on hub 100! I hope to read many, many more from you.
Ms , Bobbi, I think Google is asking for a higher quality. I wish you would burst out with some pro papers. Publish here. Then, submit an Abstract to Google Docs. Begin linking your good works published that speak of the like subject possibly. I have some evergreen Hubs that are getting traffic. I don't understand what is going on completely yet, but will get to the bottom of it. Google may be setting a higher standard in publishing, and they are wise enough not to throw the baby out with the bath water. imo. Thank you for your comments and visit! They add much. :0)
Perhaps hubpages simply needs to raise the standards, and start removing low quality content?

TravelinAsia, one of the aspects that I appreciate about HubPages is the Hubbness of it. That it is not just up to the Administrators alone to make HubPages a place where at least a searcher or reader can find useful, unique and good information. HubPages has a lot to offer big readers. I love to read. Having read thousands of books already, it becomes difficult to find unique content that is for the pleasure of the reader. Those who are studying other cultures can find out so much. I have become very good HP Friends with people from all over the globe, and I am learning so much about them. The Administrators of HubPages are writers too. They really expend a lot of time and energy helping newbies become acclimated. There are forums for those who love debate. It is the "will of the Hubber" that is a part of how HubPages works. If you see junk, flag it. If you are not sure, tell them... I think this could be junk. It really helps. Thank you for your comments, visit and read. :0)
A Big Congratulations! 100 hubs is a milestone indeed and that's impressive. I sincerely hope you get your first paycheck soon, if not already. As I am pretty new here in HP, my views and Adsense earnings stayed the same.. some days dollars and most days cents.. a few days ZERO.. however that is normal to me. Yes, I've read in forums that a lot of people got affected by the new Google algorithms but by now most are saying their views and income seem to be getting back to normal. I'm confident the HP team will never let us down. I'll have an ice-cold beer please.

Yes, life has come back to my Hubs. Rosie it is exponential and those little dips and valleys are a good indicator. You are a good writer, you have unique content, and it is obviously well researched. Keep on keeping on. Cheers!
Hi Lilly, hi Lily, high low--Is it just a coincidence that Hub rhymes with Pub? What is all the Hub-bub about anyway? Is it the Hubba-Hubba Hubs with Indian Model avatars? What is a Sub-Hub? Must a Hub have a Hubble? Do Hubs have Wives distracting them? Is the Google wagon only fitted with original Hubs with white walls and chrome spokes? These are questions I am willing to pursue, but before Pub-lishing, I must Hub-nob with the gentry at Hub's Hollow over a pithy pint of Adsense.

Quite right, LillyGrillzit! Quite right! HubPages is only five years old, and thanks in part to the huge community of first-rate writers it has attracted, HP has come a very long way in so short a time, accumulated an enormous amount of integrity and reputation for quality information and analysis (despite this latest insult from Google -- a "content farm" indeed!!).
I share your ultimate conviction. The cream (which is HP) will again rise to the top!

I like your writing style @ LillyGrillzit, I have also been helped a great deal by my fellow hubbers here, in many more ways than one, especially those who've chosen to read many of my hubs, as well as make influential comments, that drive me to become much more motivated.
I have read many many hubs in a short period of time, almost maxed out most of the accolades due to such intense activity here, and I even slowed down recently to breath a bit. This hubpages thing is awesome to say the least, and I've even earned a few dollars since my humble & fresh start.
This hub is a genuine original, and I will share it with many others I come in contact with, i am equipped with powerful sharing tools so this shall be done.
